 Eligibility Criteria for Berea College Scholarship

• Berea College seeks applicants who combine strong academic performance and financial need when considering admission. Most Berea College students score between 20-30 on the ACT (or its SAT equivalent), and possess at minimum an overall high school GPA of 3.0 within an accredited college preparatory program; taking either the ACT or SAT exam can also be taken.
• Other aspects, including volunteerism, leadership abilities, and motivation levels are taken into consideration during selection processes that focus on merit as evidence of leadership ability.
  English Language Requirements Candidates must present evidence that they fulfill Berea College’s minimum English requirements for proficiency.

• Berea College stands out as a unique institution in the United States, as we are committed to providing exceptional financial support and scholarships for all international students who join us in their first year. Our comprehensive financial aid package covers 100% of tuition expenses, as well as room, board, and other fees, making education more accessible and affordable for students from around the world.
• To ensure that our international students can contribute to their expenses, we ask them to set aside a nominal amount of up to $1,000 USD each year. However, we also offer summer work opportunities, allowing students to earn this amount and meet their financial commitments.
• Upon acceptance to the College, international students are required to pay a one-time entry fee of $50 (US) and a deposit of $2,200 to secure their enrollment. This deposit will help cover some expenses during their four years of attendance. Alternatively, if financial aid is available and suits the student’s needs better, it can be used to cover this deposit.
• We encourage our international students to participate in our Work Program, which offers paid campus employment throughout the year. By engaging in this program, students can earn between US $2,000 to $5,000 in their first year, which can be used to cover personal expenses and enhance their overall college experience

Documents Required  

You should have the following documents at the time of applying 

• International Application for Admission and Scholarship Form. 
• Personal Essay with Essay Cover Sheet. Incomplete secondary school transcripts should not be sent. 
• Likewise, Personal Statements of Financial Circumstances will need to be uploaded as PDF files as well. IFQ will also need to be filled out before beginning this application process as will any recommendations Forms that have to be sent along with this one.
  Two Admission Recommendation forms. At least one must be signed by either your current or past teacher.
  Official score sheets from at least one of these exams (IELTS, TOEFL, ACT or SAT)
•  It is highly advisable to register and complete these exams beforehand to guarantee an official copy of your score is included in your packet by the specified deadline and that an official scoresheet exists within it.
